For contractors and subcontractors providing services to the federal government, compliance with the Service Contract Act or Service Contract Labor Standards is required. Consequences for non-compliance include financial penalties and back wages, withholding of contract funds, and debarment from future contracts—each potentially triggering an audit and investigation by the Department of Labor.
