Description:
The Biden-Harris Administration has promised to strengthen enforcement against employee misclassification and “work with the Congress to develop comprehensive legislation to strengthen and extend protections against misclassification across appropriate Federal statutes.” As it stands, misclassification of workers can lead to stiff penalties and burdensome, expensive, and unnecessary litigation, with businesses often facing large settlements and payouts—and even exclusion from government procurements. Understanding how to spot and prevent employee misclassification is thus key to protecting your business.
Join Sarah Nash and Matt Kreiser, attorneys in PilieroMazza’s Labor & Employment and Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice groups, for a webinar on what employers need to know about employee misclassification—and how to avoid it. They’ll cover:
- best practices for classifying employees in compliance with the Fair Labor Standards Act and state laws;
- record-keeping tips and how to be prepared in the event of an audit; and
- strategies for protecting your business against potential litigation.
This is one of a series of PilieroMazza webinars covering Risk Prevention Strategies. This program is being considered for 1.00 hour (HR General) recertification credit hours toward aPHR™, aPHRi™, PHR®, PHRca®, SPHR®, GPHR®, PHRi™ and SPHRi™ recertification through HR Certification Institute® (HRCI®).
