The Evolution of the 8(a) Program and What Lies Ahead

The SBA’s Section 8(a) program is the federal government’s older socio-economic program for government contractors. Since its inception during the Nixon Administration, additional programs have been developed and the federal government has established goals for federal dollar spends with HUBZone, Woman-Owned and Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Businesses, in addition to small businesses. Join Pam Mazza and John Shoraka, managing director of PilieroMazza Advisory Services LLC, as they discuss possible ways that 8(a) contractors may approach this evolution to preserve their market share as well as ongoing eligibility requirements and participation in the SBA’s mentor protégé programs.
